What is "Ikebana"? |
|
“Ikebana” is an ancient Japanese art of flower arranging using flowers,
branches of trees and grasses from nature following the changing seasons.
A variety of flowers and leaves are arranged in beautiful vases and used for decoration.
The word “Ikebana” originally came from “kuge” flower given to Buddha.
“Ikebana” has been developing for a long time.
Now there are many different kinds of flower arrangements.
There are special schools to teach “Ikebana”.
The flower arrangement is in three different levels:
the highest level “Ten” represents heaven, the middle level
”Jin” represents human beings and the lowest level
“Chi” represents earth. So, “Ikebana” represents the world.
Every year Japan has many “Ikebana” Festivals in different places.
